George Paulin

George Paulin is an esteemed audio engineer and the proud owner and operator of Great Lake Records, a distinguished studio specializing in lathe cut vinyl in the vibrant music scene of Grand Rapids.

Beginning his career in the dynamic music scene of Los Angeles, George quickly distinguished himself with his exceptional talent and passion for audio engineering. His early experiences in recording studios(Grammy award winning engineer Tom Weir @ Studio City Sound), post production houses and live sound, laid the groundwork for his journey as he continued to develop his expertise in audio engineering.

 Transitioning to the vibrant city of Chicago, George expanded his expertise by immersing himself in the world of live events as a IATSE stagehand for many prestigious acts, including the Joffrey Ballet, Chicago Philharmonic, and Chicago Lyric Opera. This hands-on experience provided him with invaluable insights into the intricacies of sound and production, further enhancing his skill set.
Armed with a Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering from Ex'pression College for Digital Arts, George combines his academic knowledge with years of practical experience to deliver unparalleled results. His technical proficiency and creative vision enable him to bring out the best in every artist and project he collaborates with.
At Great Lake Records, George channels his passion for music and dedication to excellence into providing artists with a platform for physical releases, specializing in unique formats like lathe-cut vinyl. With meticulous attention to detail and a deep understanding of the craft, George ensures that each vinyl record embodies the essence of the music it represents. As both owner and operator, he oversees every step of the production process, from mastering to manufacturing, ensuring that every release meets the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. Additionally, Great Lake Records offers recording, mixing, and mastering services, as well as audio restoration and voice over production, providing comprehensive support to artists throughout their creative journey.
Having been in Grand Rapids for a little over a year, George, at 38 years old, is a devoted father of three children. In his time in the city, he has found inspiration in its diverse music scene and thriving artistic community. Alongside his commitment to Great Lake Records, George is deeply involved in the local music scene, fostering connections and collaborating with fellow artists to enrich the cultural landscape of Grand Rapids.
